I have collected the H1 B visa experiences published in this blog by searching various websites and by spending lot of time. Since I didn’t find some of their mail id’s there I couldn’t take permission from all the people whose H1b visa experiences I have posted here in this blog. Anyhow because their intention was also to share their experience with others so i had posted without their permission, but i took acceptance from few of them. I thought of posting both success and failure experiences of H1B visa stamping. If you would like to share your experience too, please send it to satyadon@gmail.com.

My experience on July 26th - H1B

Hey guys,

First of all, hats off to all the members on this thread who made it a point to share their experience and give the checklist. Appreciate all of your inputs.

As the checklist that sovietlana told about, i had one folder with all my original documents. Went to the scotiabank (Pender and Burrad st) and gave the form with 100 USD and got 2 receipts back. Then went and stood in line for the 10.30 am appointment.

We were then checked...and then sent in.
We had to arrange the documents in the order they wanted. The order is put on the board there.

We then go, pay the cash and give this first set of ordered documents with the passport. The order is:
1. Passport
2. Employment letter + I-797A
3. One passport size photo
4. Bank receipts from scotiabank
5. Appointment letter for consulate

After the cash is paid, you get a number which is your reference. They then make you wait. They call in 5-6 numbers at a time to go to the next section. They escort you and take you to the next place, where more checks, security and then you are in.

They then call your number 2 times:
1. You go and get your fingerprints done
2. You go to the consular officer and talk to him, show your certificates, and have fun :)

After 5-10 minutes, the consular office gave me a receipt and told me to come the next day at 3.00 pm to come and collect the passport.

It was pretty cool. The immigration at vancouver airport...took me another 30 minutes, they were asking me all my history, and they did a detailed check on my passport history. I was one of the folks out of many who went through the gate. A few others followed. I think they just pick in random, but was cool and fun.
