Srinivas Reddy's - H1b - Visa Experience [At Mumbai]

I had been to the Mumbai consulate office on time(15 minutes earlier rather, and before entering i made sure that i have all the documents with me).

I entered into the main building, where they check all the belongings(all metal things like watch, Belt buckle), valet, mobile phone(which you need to keep with a person who accompanied you,if you are going alone you make sure that you keep that at hotel or somewhere but not to bring to consulate)..

Bottom line is they allow only the documents folder(not bag).

once i entered i had to show my documents(like passport, appointment letter, I797,DS-156,157 etc) for finger prints and they also gave me a coupon for the interview.

after this i went to the last aisle of the room, which was occupied with lot of tensed people.

there were nearly 10 counters for the interviews and i had been waiting for my name(actually they announce coupon no and counter number) to be announced.

after 30 minutes of waiting, i had been called to a counter.

There was a women officer who greeted by "Hello"

Visa Officer. Hello how are sir

Me. I'm good madam, how about you.

VO. why did you apply for visa

Me: I want to get some client facing experience and want to directly work with the functional consultants.. etc....

VO. To which company will you work for

Me: consultancy name

VO: how did you get the job

Me. i had applied for the job.

VO: how did you apply for the job

Me: thru job site(dice)

VO: who took the interview

Me: i told the name of the consultancy manager

VO:where are you working currently.

Me: i told my company name

VO: since how long are you working for this company

Me: i told 2 years

VO: how long will you stay in US

Me: till my visa is valid( iam not sure whether this answers is appropriate or not)

VO: are you married

Me: yes

VO: why your wife has not come for visa

Me: First i want to get settled there in US and then call my wife

VO:do you want the passport to be posted or will you collect it at VFS office

Me: at VFS office.

VO: your interview is over sir.

Me: thank you madam and have a good day.

i collected(to collect this we need to show the Pink receipt of HDFC and Xerox copy of the receipt) the passport at the VFS office at 4PM and checked the VISA and the details in it for the correctness of my name and DOB and other details.
